The Rockatones

to vintage songs from the 50s, including Lavern Baker, Ruth Brown, Chuck
Berry, Wanda Jackson, Little Walter and many many more. Your feet won't
stop tapping.
we have been brushing up on some old classic Christmas tunes.
Get out your petticoats, put on your blue suede shoes, don your red lipstick and hoop earrings... your off to the hop tonight.

Gig at Foxyrock rock n roll club
We had a good time at the Foxyrock rock n roll club last Friday night.
I've made a little compilation of a few of the songs we played last Friday at the Foxyrock rock n roll club at Mistley.
Here it is via the wonders of you tube.
Our next gig is this Saturday at the bakers arms pub in Harkstead, Suffolk. What a contrast it will be. Come along if you are in the area, the more the merrier. Then... who knows. Anyone out there need a great band!

Gig at the Norbridge club.
WE had good fun, and I think the crowd did too.
Our new drummer Alan played with us, he was great. He has got 32 numbers under his belt in four weeks...no mean feat!
We practise at the Norbridge each week in return for a couple of gigs a year... win win as they say!
Lots of friends and family came to support us and the regulars from the club could finally see what the had been hearing for all these weeks.
A few hic-cups and sticky moments at the beginning of the second set with squeaky amps, naughty high hats and Harry's bleeding fingers, (literally,) still it settled down, and soon everyone was up and dancing and singing along to teenage boogie, hey hey, ho ho!

charity gig july 27th
Sorry about the late posting, I was waiting to show the guys in the band the video clips.
Last month we stepped in at the last minute and played a gig, in a wood cabin, in the rain, in a garden, up a winding lane, somewhere in the midst of Suffolk.
At band practise on the Thursday, Paul piped up.."Anyone free Saturday? A mate of mine holds a party in his garden every year where all proceeds go to charity, but the band has let him down..." We rose to the challenge. Problem... our drummer and bassist were already busy. Problem solved, Preston and Simon were free to help us out. We had no time to rehearse with them, but they are old hands, Preston was in Steve Rudd's first band with him, and Simon plays with Paul in the rock n roll group he is in.
We set up in a summerhouse, and after the barbeque, the raffle, the auction and with the sky's deciding that that was the moment to replenish the soil, on a 'wing and a prayer' as they say, we began. The countryside was rocking. The audience took shelter from the storm under awnings, umbrellas and in various sheds. But they shouted encouragement and danced when the rain eased up from time to time. Bonding? I should say so.

Great first gig last night at The Cooking Pot at The Opium Den Switch Fringe Fest !
What fun was had by all!
With a huge thanks to Sapphire Rox https://www.facebook.com/AgentBurlieque who had organised the whole event.
The set up went well.
We went outside for a quick photo shoot...
Then we were up, up, up and away... as the old song goes.
Half way through the set.... Drama! The bridge on Harry's double bass snapped.
"Not to worry!" he said. "I'll just pop along to the Spread Eagle up the road and borrow one from a mate who's playing there later." And off he popped.
"Tell them a story!" quipped Steve Rudd. So I did. A little tale of Red Riding Hood, with atmospheric twanging on the guitar. -"It's good to put those hours of experimenting up in the bedroom (with the guitar... ) to some use," he said.
In no time our young Harry was back, friends instrument cradled in his arms; I would love to have seen the looks on peoples faces as he sprinted up Tacket Street.
Soon we were back on track, strummin our stuff and gettin on down with the rock n roll beat.
Everyone seemed to have a good time and we are looking forward to the next gig at the Norbridge Social Club on 21st September.
